Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist as well as anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. She served on a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered many notable issues, such as the arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
